Mazlum Kiper: A voice spanning stage and screen
Explore Mazlum Kiper’s career from Istanbul City Theatres and Sweden to television, film dubbing and documentary narration, with selected work and voice samples.
A career rooted in theatre
Istanbul City Theatres stands at the beginning of Mazlum Kiper’s acting career. He appeared on stage at a young age and played his first leading role in Bozuk Düzen at nineteen. Directing also became part of his work. His biography therefore reaches beyond familiar dubbed characters to a sustained relationship with theatrical performance and production.
The Swedish years and return to Istanbul
Kiper later travelled to Sweden to study theatre and directing. He established theatre groups and worked across stage, television, cinema and advertising. This period places his career in a wider international and cross-media setting. In 1986 he returned to Turkey at the invitation of City Theatres, continued his work with the institution and became its general artistic director in 2005. Acting and directing were joined by artistic leadership.
Television acting and screen work
For audiences who recognise Kiper on screen as well as by voice, his television work offers another route into his career. His acting credits include Yabancı Damat, Aşk Bir Hayal, Kalp Hırsızı and İkizler Memo-Can. He played Agah in Senkron, directed by Özcan Deniz. These screen performances sit alongside his film dubbing and documentary narration rather than replacing them.
Character voices and documentary narration
The selected credits and recordings in the Dithyrambos portfolio bring together several sides of Kiper’s voice work. Listed characters include Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and Rubeus Hagrid in Harry Potter productions. His documentary credits include National Geographic Channel and National Geographic Channel Wild. Exploring commercial, character and documentary material separately connects the career story to the actual voice examples.
